On March 22, the Congressional-Executive Commission on China (C.E.C.C.) hosted a press conference on the passage of Article 23 in Hong Kong. Chairman Chris Smith and Co-Chairman Jeff Merkley of the C.E.C.C. were joined by Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi in voicing their opposition to Article 23. Our executive director, Anna Kwok, and the policy and advocacy coordinator of the Committee for Freedom in Hong Kong (C.F.H.K.) Foundation, Frances Hui, were invited to deliver remarks. Our senior communications associate, Huen Lam, attended the press conference along with our fellow. We released a joint press release with the C.F.H.K. Foundation after the event to urge the Biden Administration and Congress to respond to the bill’s passage.
